Topic: Wittman's Buster - Join us for Bill Brennand's talk about chapter namesake Steve Wittman and his legendary aircraft Buster.
Steve Wittman's raceplane" Buster" was originally built in 1931. After a distinguished racing career the airplane was put in storage after a crash in 1938. After WWII Wittman and his young protégé, a man named Bill Brennand, updated the airplane and renamed it "Buster." Brennand flew it at the Cleveland National Air Races and other places and repeated Wittman's success. Today the airplane hangs in the National Air and Space Museum. It is the only Wittman racer that EAA does not have, but Chapter 252 is going to change that by building a non-flying reproduction.
